PROGRAM AIR PERCUMA BUKTI SELANGOR MAMPU URUS AIR DENGAN BAIK
Program Pemberian Air Percuma yang membolehkan rakyat menikmati 20 meter padu pertama secara percuma setiap bulan adalah bukti keupayaan pengurusan Kerajaan Negeri dan kesungguhan untuk memastikan industri air di Malaysia diuruskan dengan menjadikan kebajikan rakyat menjadi keutamaan.
Secara purata, keluarga yang mendiami rumah bertanah di Selangor menikmati penjimatan RM1,200 setahun sejak program ini diperkenalkan pada Jun 2008 manakala keluarga yang tinggal di rumah bertingkat pula menikmati penjimatan secara purata hampir RM900 setahun dalam tempoh itu.
Kerajaan Negeri telah membekukan cadangan untuk menaikkan tarif air oleh Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS) sebanyak dua kali iaitu untuk 2009 dan 2012.
Kerajaan Selangor telah membelanjakan RM550 juta setakat ini untuk Program Pemberian Air Percuma. Namun begitu, kerajaan negeri masih berupaya meningkatkan rezab negeri kepada RM2.1 billion pada 2012 berbanding hanya RM400 juta pada 2008.
Ini adalah hasil dasar kewangan mesra rakyat yang mematuhi prinsip-prinsip integriti dan tadbir urus yang baik. Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Selangor membuat banyak usaha untuk memastikan rakyat berhak untuk berkongsi keuntungan, aset dan sumber negeri.

FREE WATER PROGRAM SHOWS STATE BETTER IN MANAGING WATER
Selangor’s Free Water Programme, which allows metered households to enjoy 20 cubic meters of water for free, is a testament to the state government’s managerial capabilities and its determination to ensure that the water industry in Malaysia is managed with the rakyat’s best interests as its guiding priority.
On average, families living in landed properties in Selangor have enjoyed savings of more than RM 1,200 since the introduction of this programme in June 2008 and the state government’s freeze in SYABAS’ proposed increased in water tariff in 2009 and 2012.
Meanwhile, an average family staying in an apartment or condominium in Selangor has enjoyed savings amounting close to RM900 for the same period.
The Selangor State Government has spent RM 550 million so far on the free water programme. Despite this expense, the state has still managed to increase the state reserves five fold from RM 400 million in 2008 to to RM 2.1 billion in 2012.
This is a direct result of rakyat-centric financial policies that adhere strictly to the principles of integrity and good governance. As always, the Pakatan Rakyat Selangor state government makes every effort to ensure that the rakyat enjoy their rightful share of all the state’s profits, assets and resources.
